Water management is of great importance for preserving water resources, efficient use of water by plants, and minimizing excessive leaching of soil chemicals.
The program uses daily rainfall, irrigation, and evapotranspiration to calculate the amount of water in the root zone and the amount of drainage below the root zone and displays a variety of graphs and tables. Since the results depend upon the weather, calculations are performed for 9 years. The user can view the results for a single year or for the entire collection of years.
The program is designed to enable the user to see the impact of the soil water holding capacity upon the amount available for plant use, the amount drained below the root zone, the impact of irrigation upon these amounts, and the way these values change from year to year.
